In God We Trust

It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor...
George Washington
The Thanksgiving Proclamation
October 3, 1789

We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other.
John Adams
Address to the Military
October 11, 1798

God who gave us life, gave us liberty. And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice can not sleep forever...
Thomas Jefferson
Notes on the State of Virginia
1781

I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth- that God Governs in the affairs of men. We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings, that "except the Lord build the House they labour in vain that build it."
Benjamin Franklin
Request for Prayers at the Constitutional Convention
July 28, 1787

America needs God more than God needs America. If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a Nation gone under.
Ronald Reagan
Reunion Arena, Dallas, Texas

  1. My wife and I went to the 3 July '10 tea party in Newport,NC. Thank you. It was informative and it felt good being with folks of the same conservative ideals. I read in the "Investor Business Daily," written by E.J. Dionne Jr."... the flag burning Tea Partiers." I am angry with the left and their false slander. I want a LOCAL National Tea Party, not a National Local Tea Party. Budda1942@yahoo.com Rocky
