Kagan Hearings Begin Monday -- Time to ACT

Conservatives are abrogating their responsibility to the Constitution by not blocking a nominee who ascribes to the Living Constitution Theory!

House and Senate leaders finalize details of sweeping financial overhaul. Wrapped up at 5:39 a.m., the Dodd-Frank bill sets up a potential vote in both houses next week that could send the legislation to Obama by July 4th.
A new consumer protection bureau housed in the Federal Reserve would have independent funding, an independent leader and near-total autonomy to write and enforce rules. The government would have broad new powers to seize and wind down large, failing financial firms and to oversee the $600 trillion derivatives market. In addition, a council of regulators, headed by the Treasury secretary, would monitor the financial landscape for potential systemic risks.
"We've put in the hands of the president a very powerful set of tools for him to reassert American leadership in the world," Frank said.

If you are going solo, you can elect double occupancy and you'll be paired with someone of the same gender and take advantage of the lower rate. You may also register with up to four people per room with the third and fourth person paying $179 each. Please use the email link on the AFP BPackages page to take advantage of this third or fourth person occupancy rate.
We are registered and signed up for the Goldsboro bus.
If we can get enough people registered, we can arrange to have a bus leave out of New Bern. If not, then many Patriots 28560 members have vans and mini-vans and we can load up and carpool to Goldsboro.
I attended the Defending the Dream Summit last year, click here for description and photos, and the training is FANTASTIC. Add in the Restoring Honor Rally with Sarah Palin as speaker and it does not get any better. Except for the second 912 March on the Capitol!

The cost is $79 if you register early and that will increase after the early registration deadline (not published at this time). The $79 includes the grassroots training, summit brief, Reagan dinner, Saturday breakfast. You should be able to use the shuttles to the Restoring Honor event; the subway is very close and that's always an option if the shuttles are backed up

North Carolina always has the largest group of activists at any Americans for Prosperity event and this is the annual summit for AFP, a national-level meeting.

Tea Party Mounts Strong Response to Chris Matthews Special Report "The Rise of the 'New' Right"

Patriots 28560 presented a free screening of the Tea Party Movie February 29, the one-year anniversary of the Tea Party movement.
Watch this blog, we'll be presenting an encore performance early August in preparation for our trip to DC for the second 912 March. Many of us were at the first, and yes, it was 1.5 million strong.

Once to Every Man and Nation
I'll have to admit to not paying attention in church Sunday. Not sure why, the sermon didn't captivate me... when that happens I open the hymnal and start reading through my favorite hymns. It's my experience that the old familiar hymns will often provide more enlightenment, inspiration and comfort than most sermons.
"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6.
It's true, I go back to basics, what I learned from my parents. Specifically, the old hymns that I first learned to sing with my mother, we drove our Siamese cats crazy, with our noise. Then I progressed to learning The Apostles' Creed, making my first attempt at cursive writing. I was so proud when I showed it to my mom. She praised me and admired my work, then gently explained that I had to make a break between my words, they only LOOKED like they all ran together--
Comforting hymns, comforting creeds, comforting memories. All take me back, when happy or sad, jubilant or in defeat, optimistic -- or as now -- in desperate dread at what is happening to our Nation.
